Ah, Facebook. We seem to have come to the point where we can't live with it and we can't live without...this, despite the fact that we have lived WITHOUT it for much of our natural lives.

Hey, they felt the same way ten years into television, too, and, well...you know.

But while Facebook has become an invaluable resource for a number of reasons, it has also become a platform for those who wish to bully or be hateful and hide behind the social media cloak.

It has ALSO been a canvas on which multitudes of users have painted FAKE NEWS!

Haven't we all fallen for fake online stories to some degree? Come on, admit it.

I do. Because I have.

And Facebook is well aware and has grown pretty tired of it.

Of course, it's not like they didn't bring a little of it on themselves according to some.

The dissemination of certain information during the political season made a lot of figurative pots boil over.

So now, Facebook will work with various media outlets like Snopes and ABC News to combat the spread of false news.

Facebook plans to test the waters by making fake stories easy to share and spread by users.

Once these third parties get a hold of the stories, they'll immediately be labeled and BURIED in our news feeds.

Done.

About time.

Maybe, once and for all, the statement "If it's on the Internet, it MUST be true." will actually be accurate.

Or not. Hope springs eternal.
