Last month, we visited family in New Mexico. Now when I mention that, I'm often asked if that's where I'm from. Nope. It's the other way around.  The family that's out there--my mom's brother and sister--are native Kentuckians.

And one of the things they still love to do--they've both been out there at least 50 years and it's where they started their families--is come to Kentucky during the fall, when they can, and just soak it all in.

I'll be doing what I usually do this time of year. That is, I'll be taking short road trips to "just soak it all in" and enjoy what fall brings to the Commonwealth.

But instead of finding my way around and discovering, I'll be using an awesome list of suggestions from onlyinyourstate.com.

Some of the ten country roads and byways suggested by the site are relatively nearby. And some are in far eastern Kentucky, like near the West Virginia and Virginia state lines.

In other words, I could get to Atlanta quicker than I could get to, say, U.S. 23.

Now, I'm not saying 23 isn't worth your time, but you WILL need a little more time. You see it's called the Country Music Highway. And it's so-named because up and down this stretch of blacktop are the hometowns of folks like Loretta Lynn, Billy Ray Cyrus, Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs, and Dwight Yoakam.

But the other nine on the list are just as worthwhile.

So I've got 'em copied and pasted.

Just need to gas up the car.

Enjoy the fall, folks!
