New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services is a 24 hour crisis center to the seven-county GRADD area. They also provide free counseling for any survivor of sexual violence including child sexual abuse and free educational prevention programs for all ages.
New Beginnings is in search of volunteers. You could be the source of strength for a sexual assault victim in need. They are looking for help with a range of duties to assist both the victims and the organization. No experience is necessary, but they will provide all the training needed.
Jeff Musial "The Animal Guy" and his animal entourage has performed all over the country and on several late-night shows, but this Saturday, he'll be in Evansville! You can catch this fun show at the Old National Events Plaza, August 23rd at 2pm.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Jeff about his show and some funny animal stories... check it out!
We've all seen the videos by now... millions of people dumping buckets of ice water on their heads, participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge. I'm sure that some of you have too. ALS is a nasty disease. If you've never been affected by it, consider yourself lucky. My friend Amy's Dad passed away from ALS and she challenged Chad and myself to help spread awareness about ALS. Without blinking, I accepted for both of us naturally, ha!
So, without further ado... this one's for you Larry!
I can't believe it either, but today, Friday August 15th, is the last Big O Party of the year! It's been a great summer enjoying lunch with y'all and raising money for some great organizations and I'm hoping to have a great turnout today! Join us for $5
I typically dread the day Chad goes to Louisville for the opening day of the Kentucky State Fair. He always tortures me with his fun stories of seeing the animals, meeting cool people and eating lots, lots, lots of delicious food! Well, tomorrow is fair day and I won't be jealous! Nope, I'll be there too.... bring on the fun!
Since I'll be with Chad this year, I've made us a Kentucky State Fair Opening Day Checklist... check it out!
With the recent of suicide of Robin Williams, there has been a lot of talk about depression. Sometimes, when something like this happens, it's hard to know, as a broadcaster, how to address it on-air. Instead of talking about Mr. Williams wonderful career, which he undoubtedly had, we chose to go a different direction. The responsible thing to do was to deal with the main issue here... depression.
2014 is the 30th year that Dairy Queen has partnered with the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals! That's worth a blizzard right there, am I right?!? Thursday, August 14th is Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen and you can snack on a delicious treat and make a difference in the lives of children.
"Sunny day, sweepin the clouds away"... everybody sing along! Sesame Street Live: "Let's Dance" is coming to the Riverpark Center in Owensboro September 6th and 7th. Teachers, principals, parents... you could win tickets for your whole classroom to the show!
I get it. We all love Frozen. At least we did that first 1457 times we watched it. And, who hasn't sang at the top of their lungs "Let It Go" zipping down Frederica while doing the motions from the movie? Just when I thought I couldn't stand to hear the song one more time, the girls at work showed me this video.
Meet Zoe and Maddie. They're four year-old twins who sing the heck out of this song. Their expressions are absolutely adorable and I laughed the whole time.
Take a look. Go ahead... watch it. You'll thank me later!
