The college football season kicks off this week! Western Kentucky gets their season started on the road at Vanderbilt Thursday night. If you can't make it to Nashville, but want a fun watching experience, watch the game at WKU-Owensboro!
If you know anything about us here at WBKR, then you know of our passion for research and awareness toward childhood cancer. We are humbled to be a Country Cares station for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and would honestly do anything to help raise money for their cause. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and I thought in honor of recognizing this great fight to end childhood cancer, we would look-back on our support... thru song.
On our way home from Madisonville Tuesday night, Chad and I stopped in West Louisville to pick Carsyn up. While driving home, Carsyn and Uncle Chad began having a conversation about her acting up in school lately. The conversation went about as well as to be expected between Chad and a six year-old, ha! Little did we know, Carsyn was filming this on her hand-me-down, doesn't really work iPhone. Don't mind the terrible video work and take a look at this!
We had SO much fun at our first WBKR Night at Brothers, we decided to have another! But, all of our DJ's love their food so much, we have to share our time there. So, tonight, Saturday, August 22nd, Dave Spencer is headed to Madisonville to have dinner with y'all!
There's always something about every generation that society decides is relevant. For our current kiddos, it's participation trophies. The sense of not hurting anyone's feelings seems to have taken over from preparing them for life, which isn't always fair, right? Well, one NFL Pro-Bowler isn't a fan of the "every kid gets a trophy" mindset and he isn't at all scared to do or say something about it.
James Harrison, 2-time Super Bowl Champion, 5-time Pro-Bowler and current Pittsburgh Steeler took to his Instagram page to explain why his kids would not be keeping the trophies they just received.
Dale Jr is clearly the fan-favorite of NASCAR and he's always very quick to thank his fans for their support. He recently received a really cool autographed posted of his late father's, Dale Earnhardt, from an anonymous fan. Dale Jr took to his twitter account to say "Thanks" to the person who left it for him. Take a look at how cool this is!
How exciting is this?!? TV's favorite Mom is coming to Owensboro to kick off the Holiday season! Florence Henderson, best know as Carol Brady in "The Brady Bunch" will serve as the Grand Marshal in the 2015 Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade! The parade organization announced today that the Owensboro native will kick-off the 79th annual parade on Saturday, November 21st in downtown Owensboro!
The Pitino Shelter is a wonderful facility here in Owensboro that houses homeless individuals and families, in attempts to transition them to permanent housing. They are always eager for volunteers to come help out by donating their time, money or products. Here is the latest list of items needed for the residents at The Pitino Shelter:
