On Friday, October 23rd, 2015, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Owensboro Police Department responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and passenger car in the 1700 block of Breckenridge Street. Both vehicles were reported to be traveling northbound on Breckenridge Street in the west lane. The motorcycle operator attempted to pass the passenger car on the left side between the car and the west curb. The passenger car began making a left turn as she attempted to pull into Don’s Consignment located at 1700 Breckenridge Street. The motorcycle collided with the left side of the passenger car and became airborne, ejecting the operator. The motorcycle operator, identified as Jason W. Kellems, was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries. Owensboro Police Department accident reconstruction officers responded to the scene to investigate. The 1700 block of Breckenridge Street was closed for approximately 90 minutes.
