There is a guy named Paul that has spent over $200 MILLION dollars in flying cars since the 70's.  Does this sound like a good idea to anyone?  I just think that airplanes should be in the sky and cars should be on the road.  But since we are blasting toward the future, flying cars could be a reality in less than two years.

Since 2017 is right around corner we could only assume that a group of test pilots are up in the sky with an airplane that they drove to the airstrip.

Pilots that are scared to death for their lives up in the sky flying their cars.

Go gettem, Doc Brown.

Speaking of Doc Brown, he installed flying abilities to the DeLorean in Back to the Future part II and that was set in 2015... so we are behind.  We also don't have hover boards, self lacing boots, self drying jackets or a pizza machine that whips up a large pie in about 3 seconds.   But what Doc didn't tell you is what he had to go through to even be able to fly the DeLorean.

This is what I'm assuming you'll need in order to fly your car.

Flying Car - $300,000

Private Flying License - $6,000 - $12,000

Aviation Headphones - $1,100

Airplane Insurance - $1,100

Legit Aviator Sunglasses - $100

Airplane Upkeep - a ton of money

Let's just say that it'll cost around $320,000 to get this whole process started.  We can only assume that you can't just take off and land from anywhere in the world.  Unless it is a huge field.  You just better make sure that whoever owns the field is okay with it.   If you wanted to fly this thing, you would have to drive it to the airport, taxi, talk to ATC, get approval to take off, deal with ATC once you are in the air, worry about landing, get yelled at actual pilots flying actual airplanes and then land.

Now what if your garage doesn't hold a flying car?  Well that's alright because if you want a 1000 square foot hangar to store your flying car, it's only $580 a month.

Bad Idea. But take a look at this video of all the good things you can expect with a flying car.
