Fundraiser This Sunday for Local St. Jude Patient Ben Halbig

His family is calling it the Ben-efit.  And Sunday at Maloney's in Owensboro, the extended family of Ben Halbig is throwing a fundraiser for him.  Since February, Ben has been battling cancer at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

I chatted with Ben's father Randy this week and Ben is progressing well.  The family actually had plans to join us at the Moonlight Ride Friday night downtown, but had to stay in Memphis a little longer.  According to Randy, the family is due back in Owensboro on June 26th.

In the meantime, Ben's aunt, Debbie Reed, has organized the Ben-efit fundraiser.  10% of pizza sales Sunday from 11am to 5pm will be donated to Ben and there is also a silent auction from 2pm to 4.  Some of the items up for grabs are swim passes to Atlantis, tickets to events at RiverPark, tickets to The Grand Ole Opry and more.
