Garth Brooks Announces 2014 World Tour
Well, we have been speculating for months if Garth Brooks would indeed go back on tour. Now we know. He announced on ‘Good Morning America’ this morning that he’s going on tour in 2014 — and no one was more surprised than him.
The singer appeared on ‘GMA’ live from Times Square to talk about his new box set, ‘Blame It All on My Roots,’ which propelled him back to the top of the country charts. And while talking about his success with his new musical endeavor, the topic of touring came up …
As many fans know, it’s been 12 years since Brooks gave up the road life for a committed family life, and he’s been hinting at tour plans for a while now. When Roberts asked, the star was coy, saying, “I would love to, but at 52, now I’m worried it’s the wheelchair and walker tour. But, I’d love to fire it up…” Added the icon with a sly grin, “Between me and you, I think we’ll make an announcement very soon.”
It seems the (tour bus) wheels were turning in his head, and all of a sudden the country icon told Roberts, “Since it’s you, and since we’ve had a history forever, let’s announce it.”
As the surprised and ecstatic ‘GMA’ host began to smile, Brooks confirmed the great news: “We’re going on a world tour 2014. It begins.”
“I can’t think of a better way. I can’t believe I just did that, but you are a doll,” he furthered, as the audience erupted into cheers.
Brooks admits that the announcement was totally unscripted, and he seemed totally shocked that he had just spilled the beans out of nowhere. He mentioned that he’s going to talk with radio at the end of this week and that plans are already moving forward.
“It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring,” he reminisced. “Our baby is a senior in high school. We’ve talked about it. All my babies are fine with it, Miss Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do — play music — I get to be with the person I want to be with — which is Miss Yearwood — and my children are off on their own.”
Talk about a celebration for country fans everywhere! The sevens have aligned; it has begun!
