Green Bean Casserole A No-Go At Erin’s Thanksgiving Feast [PHOTOS]
I never really know exactly what Mom is going to make for Thanksgiving dinner, but a green bean casserole, not even a broccoli casserole was in the cards. Instead, sweet potato casserole; UGH!
The main reason I'm not a fan of sweet potato casserole, it tastes too much like a dessert. This, is a dessert...
Not just any pumpkin pie, but a turtle pumpkin pie! Yum! Okay, so we didn't have all sweet things for dinner. Mom tried to be funny with this picture.
These are just a few of the dressing ingredients. Mom uses cornbread and she used some sourdough bread this year. I wasn't a fan of dressing until a few years ago. Honestly, all I ate at holiday meals growing up was a piece of turkey, maybe some mashed potatoes, and whatever bread option was available. The turkey this year was definitely different. Mom bought an Amish turkey breast that the butcher de-boned, cut it in half and he cut a pocket in one breast for stuffing. And here's the result.
The stuffing was made of sweet Italian sausage, fennel, spinach, and sourdough bread. Delicious! And yes I did try the sweet potato casserole and it was...okay.
I'm still holding out hope for a green bean AND broccoli casserole for Christmas! Happy Holidays!
