Greenville, Central City Among Kentucky’s Safest Cities

The website Safewise has ranked Kentucky's Top 20 "Safest Cities" and two are in Western Kentucky, namely Muhlenberg County.

Greenville ranks as the third safest city in this year's statistics and Central City ranks thirteenth. The 10 safest were chosen based on the most recent FBI Crime Report stats from 2014, along with population data. Cities with fewer than 4,000 residents as well as any city that failed to submit a complete FBI report were eliminated.

Kentucky's violent crime rate is 44 percent lower than the national average.
