Happy Birthday Juice Newton [Video]

This morning on WBKR's Beeker's Dozen, I played THE SWEETEST THING by Juice Newton, who is celebrating birthday #60 today. Juice burst on the scene in 1975 as part of Juice Newton and the Silver Spur. She had a recording contract with RCA but not much happened. Later on Capitol Records she and her band had one album before disbanding.

One band member, Otha Young, stayed with Juice in a variety of roles until his death is 2009.

Juice and Otha wrote THE SWEETEST THING, which was a big hit in the early 80's after Juice had rejoined RCA as a country singer. You can see them together in the video. Gold and platinum records awaited her in the 80's.
