Has your World Cup fever broken?
After a couple of heart stopping weeks of World Cup action the dream ended for the U.S. Men's Soccer Team. I can definitely say I wrapped myself in the flag and watched every minute of our matches. However, since we lost I can't say I watched any of the matches and probably won't be watching much soccer until the next big national event. I think my World Cup fever has broken, has yours?
If you answered yes I might have a few theories as to why soccer is not as popular in the U.S. as it is around the world. First, soccer is not prone to a lot of offense, most of the matches I've seen end in 1-0 or 2-1 scores most of our most popular sports have almost non- stop action and scoring. Secondly, we don't seems to like ties in sports. Foe me there needs to be a winner and loser in everything and in most American sports we have a, "There must be a winner mentality." Finally, is soccer more of an Olympic type sports where it's watched more every fours years and when players compete for the U.S.? What do y'all think?
