School is less than month away and Henderson County public schools have announced that they are participating in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.

This means all public school students will be eligible for free breakfast and lunch for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. It will be made possible via the Full Community Eligibility Provision. Several areas schools are already participating in the program.

Roughly 40 percent of students had to fall in the range of qualifying for free or reduced meals. Director of Child Nutrition Charlotte Baumgartner said Henderson's district has an eligibility at 57.13 percent.

Students will not have to reimburse meal fees or submit an application for free/reduced meals. The CEP program only covers a regular reimbursable lunch or breakfast.
