In an effort to expedite the work first responders do at the scenes of accidents, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has initiated the Yellow Dot Program.

In the form of a decal you'd place in the lower left corner of the rear window on the driver's side of your car, the Yellow Dot will inform emergency crews of medical packets you would have in your glove box.

EMTs  would then "spot the yellow dot" and be aware of any allergies from which you suffered or medications you happened to be taking.

The decal looks like this:

You don't need me to tell you that seconds count when emergency personnel arrive at the scene of an accident.

If someone happens to be unconscious, this sticker will save time and a life.

The Transportation Cabinet advises that the packets in your vehicles should also include  your photo.

To request a yellow dot packet, email yellowdotky@ky.gov or you can pick one up at any KYTC district office. the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet central office, or from any Kentucky State Police post.

They are also available at various hospitals throughout Kentucky.
