Restaurants tend to come and go, but some hurt more than others. When this historic Owensboro restaurant closed in August, a lot of the Tri-State was surprised and sad. But, guess what?!? One of your favorites is re-opening soon!

Wonder Whip on KY 144 will be re-opening soon under new ownership and management!

Seth Woodward of Owensboro, who operates restaurants in Owensboro and Bowling Green will be operating Wonder Whip.

He released this information about the re-opening:

"I was shocked when Wonder Whip closed in August and I felt genuinely sad that another piece of our history and culture could be permanently lost. I do not think I am alone in that sentiment.

The immediate plan is to simply re-open Wonder Whip exactly as it was the day it closed. The long-term plan is to slowly make tasteful changes to the physical property and menu offerings. There are many exciting things happening in the good food movement and there is no reason why they cannot be found at Wonder Whip."

The old flea market behind Wonder Whip was demolished last week and new green spaces are currently being added in front of the restaurant in an effort to beautify the property.

An exact opening date has not been set yet, but it should be within the next 2-4 weeks.

Several former employees are expected to be employed by the new ownership, in addition to approximately ten new employees to be hired. For updates and employment opportunities, follow their Facebook page.
