It was about a month ago that I was a part of the judging panel for the Coca-Cola Talent Show at the Daviess County Fair at the Hines Center in Philpot.

Fifteen-year-old Dustin Hunter was one of the performers and will now move on to the state competition at the Kentucky State Fair next weekend in Louisville.

I had a chance to chat with Dustin last week and discovered a kid with a good head on his shoulders who loves country music and plans to pursue it as a career.

He and his dad have established a couple of connections in Nashville--always important--and are approaching this admittedly difficult business with the right attitude. As Dustin told me, "I just want to try, but if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen."

Good for him, right? We wish him all the best in Louisvillle.

If you missed my two-part interview with Dustin and would like to hear it, you can do that right here:
