Last night, at the Citizens Academy with the Owensboro Police Department, was Hazardous Devices Unit night.... aka,The Bomb Squad. Officer Flory and Officer Alsip spoke with our class about all of their training, job duties and even showed off different types of (non-active) explosives and gear. Being the closet nerd that I am, I found it really fascinating.

The amount of knowledge that they must acquire is crazy impressive. And that suit... y'all, that beast weighs 90 pounds! So, naturally, I put the suit on and tried to get up from laying on the floor. How did it go? Not great, haha! Take a look...

Y'all, seriously, that was intense! I can't imagine trying to defuse a bomb in that suit! Ok, I can't imagine trying to defuse a bomb in any setting, ha!
I have to give a big THANK you to the HDU officers for taking their time to speak to our class and for taking 30 minutes to get me in and out of that suit, ha!
