Four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jeff Gordon announced Thursday he will retire from full-time racing after this upcoming season. This comes after 43-year-old Gordon had one of his best seasons in years, winning four races including the Brickyard 400.

Gordon won the big races, he won four championships (1994, 1995, 1998, 2001) in seven years, and he amassed 58 victories before his 30th birthday. He spent his entire career driving the no. 24 car with Hendrick Motorsports. Gordon's 92 Sprint Cup victories places him third on the all-time wins list behind David Pearson and Richard Petty respectively.  He won three Daytona 500s and the Brickyard 400 a record five times.

Gordon said he wouldn't rule out competing in select events after full-time racing but he has no immediate plans to do so.
