The holiday season is going to be difficult time for Joe Lowe's family.  It's going to be difficult for his radio family as well.  Holidays are always trying when they arrive shortly after losing someone.  But, this Christmas season, the memory of our friend Joe Lowe is going to be alive and well thanks to a big announcement from the Owensboro-Daviess Christmas Parade Association.  They have named Joe Lowe the 2012 Grand Marshal of the parade!

This is the official release from the parade . . .

The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Association, Inc. is presenting the 76th Annual Christmas parade themed "A Riverfront Christmas" Saturday afternoon, November 17th, 2012.  The parade starts at 4:30pm sharp in downtown Owensboro and will follow its traditional route down 2nd Street.

A few weeks before we lost the voice of Owensboro, the Christmas parade committee asked Joe Lowe to be the Grand Marshal of the 76th annual Christmas parade.

Joe was humbled and honored that we asked, and he graciously accepted.

Before Joe's death he asked the community to come together and support his effort to comfort folks who have no support system as he had.  He witnessed a woman leaving cancer treatment, climb into a GRITS bus and presumably went home to an empty house.  That touched Joe's heart in a way that nothing else ever did.  Joe put her needs before his.

We ask you to join us, as we keep our commitment to honor Joe Lowe, who tirelessly committed his time and talents to raise money for not-for-profit organizations all across the region.  Joe was Owensboro's number one cheerleader, an American patriot who insisted, and succeeded, in playing the "National Anthem" daily on "The Joe Lowe Morning Show."

Joe's wife Kathy, his daughters and grand children will represent Joe as the Grand Marshals as they travel the parade route in a carriage pulled by a team of proud horses.
