Man, I'd love to say "no good deed goes unpunished" right here. But Lexington Herald-Leader writer John Clay beat me to it when he wrote about the reaction some Cincinnati-area residents had to UK Coach John Calipari throwing out the first pitch at the Reds game on Tuesday.

Angry calls into a local talk show Monday night lasted about 90 minutes, with one listener even vowing give up diamond seats! Uh, forgive me, but he's INSANE! Can I have them?

Anyway, as I have said, UK basketball is as polarizing as it is beloved. Luckily, that does not matter to the Cincinnati Reds who were right on target in honoring the national champion Kentucky Wildcats.

There are more than 10,000 UK alumni in the Greater Cincinnati metro area, and it was the smart thing to do. Here's what I'm thinking--these callers have probably ticked off Big Blue Nation. Uh, good luck with that.
