Kacey Musgraves Sings Elvis – Are You Lonesome Tonight [Video]

Are You Lonesome Tonight by Kacey Musgraves is incredible. So soft, so tender, so lovely. And, so is the song! She  performed the tune on the Grand Ole Opry Tuesday. Her boyfriend and fellow band member Misa Arriaga takes the lead.  Actually, Kasey sometimes appears to not know the song all that well but she may have just been worried she was going to teeter over in the 15-inch heels.

Are You Lonesome Tonight was a huge hit for Elvis Presley in 1960 but originated in 1926!  I remember hearing a version by Al Jolson and found out it was recorded in 1950. I think that is the version that Elvis followed because they are almost identical.

On You Tube you can listen (watch) many versions of the tune going back to the 20’s.
