In the fall of 2013, 65 cases of 20-year-old rare and very expensive Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon were reported missing.

But now, that relatively cold case has regained heat with the indictment of "nine members of a criminal syndicate that collaborated to promote or engage in the theft...and illegal trafficking" of liquor.

Buffalo Trace in Frankfort and the Wild Turkey Distillery were both plundered according to the indictment.

What's more, the Pappy Van Winkle heist is allegedly part of a larger bourbon and drug conspiracy that's been ongoing for the last 7 years.
