I'm sure most Kentucky fans thought THIS WAS THE YEAR! Football coach Mark Stoops had three recruiting classes and the 'Cats were BOUND to take that next step.

But something happened along the way. And I gotta tell ya, I'm not sure what it was.

And that could have something to do with the fact that I'm not nearly as well-versed in football as I am in basketball, even though I follow it closely enough to know that this 5-7 season shouldn't have happened.

They should've beaten Florida and Auburn. And if you can beat South Carolina on the road, you can beat Vanderbilt on the road. And, just like that, 8 wins. But no.

A diehard Kentucky fan, who goes by Not Jerry Tipton on Twitter, tweeted this out a couple of weeks ago:

One blogger, named Keith Garrett, is also having his doubts about the future of this Kentucky football program. Unfortunately, I'm with him.

The talent is there and Stoops is good coach, but maybe he doesn't hire well, says Garrett.

Perhaps it's disorganization and lack of preparedness.

I mean, this team should have won AT LEAST 6 games.

You have to admit, the question marks are getting larger.

SIDE NOTE: All is not lost in the Commonwealth, however; my Western Kentucky Hilltoppers are TEN AND TWO! Or 10-2, but that doesn't look as good in all caps.
