How many times have we, as motorists, sat at an intersection waiting for the light to change and then, when it we've reached the point where it feels like it's been too long, we start rocking the car back and forth to trip a switch?

I've done it plenty of times...ESPECIALLY at Booth and Frederica.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

Well, when it DOES work, it's because my car is heavy enough to actually TRIP that switch. Motorcyles are not.

Kentucky HB370 is a law--passed on Wednesday--that will now allow a motorcyclist to proceed through an intersection under a red light if the cyclist has waited two minutes AND it is safe to proceed.

They're called "safe-on-red" laws and they've been enacted in 14 other states.

Donald Green of the Kentucky Motorcycle Association believes that this will make for safer travel for motorcyclists as the bikes can be difficult to see. Allowing them proceed through an intersection ahead of other vehicles will make them more visible.

So now, all I have to do is rent a motorcycle if I plan to drive through Booth and Frederica.
