On the same day that the United States government shutdown, a glimpse of sunshine broke thru on the future of Kentucky politics. (Or at least as far as I'm concerned.) Columbia, Kentucky native and Medal of Honor recipient, Dakota Meyer, hinted at a potential run at Congress in 2016.

On Tuesday, October 1st, he tweeted:

"Congress 2016, POTUS 2024!" @Dakota_Meyer

After this tweet, his almost 24,000 twitter followers were tweeting their excitement and encouragement at the thought of Dakota running for office.

He tweeted later in the day:

"I want to thank everyone for their overwhelming support & encouragement about my decision to pursue elected office! #makeadifference" @Dakota_Meyer

Dakota is very active in several organizations promoting the military including Hiring our Heroes. HOH is a nationwide effort to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment.

Will he run or won't he run? Either way, seeing young, potential new faces of politics, especially with such an impressive military background is exciting for the future of our Commonwealth and our great country!
