One of the works I always enjoyed getting to hear as a music student in college was Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”. The first time I heard it, which was many years before college, I fell in love with the jazz sound and started to look more into the world of jazz.

On Tuesday, November 19th, the Kentucky Wesleyan Wind Ensemble/ Honors Wind Ensemble will perform this and several other works in their fall concert. The concert will take place at 7pm in Cannon Hall of the RiverPark Center. The band, which consists of 90 members, will perform “Rhapsody in Blue” with Dr. Diane Earle as piano soloist. They will also perform works by Shostakovich, Barnes, Fillmore, Biebel and Press. The band is led by conductor Steven A. Pederson with assistant conductor, DuWayne Dale.

A $5 donation is requested at the door, students are admitted free with student ID. For more information, you can contact Dr. Earle by phone at 270-852-3617.
