Yes, we are already preparing for SNOW & ICE SEASON.  A team of KYTC District 2 mechanics and safety personnel will be descending on our OHIO COUNTY Highway Maintenance Facility starting about 8:30 a.m., CDT, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

The team and our Ohio County Crew will be running safety checks on all trucks to prepare for Snow & Ice Season which officially starts November 1.  In addition to standard safety checks, they will be calibrating and testing computer control equipment and auger systems to assure that the proper amount of salt is being spread per mile of highway traveled.  The testing involves running the truck engine at highway rpms, then measuring how much salt comes out the back of the truck in a specific amount of time.

You’re invited to come join us for this calibration/safety activity.  I will be on site starting around 8:30 a.m., CDT, if you would like to come by for photos or video.  Please reply to this email if you plan to come by so I’ll know how many folks to expect.  The safety checks and calibration are expected to last until around Noon.

The Ohio County Maintenance Facility is at 850 State Route 1543, Hartford, KY 42347.  If you are traveling the Natcher Parkway take the KY 69 Hartford Exit and turn South toward Hartford.  KY 1543 will be at the first traffic signal.  Turn left and go about 1 mile.  The facility will be on your right.

For those who can’t make it to Ohio County on Tuesday morning, I will attempt to be available for interviews via my cell phone.  I will also attempt to load some photos up to our Facebook Page.at www.facebook.com/kytcdistrict2. You do not have to be a Facebook member to access this page.
