The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Henderson County Highway Maintenance Crew has completed bridge deck maintenance and brush clearing work along the southbound side of the US 41 Twin Bridges at Henderson.

The crew plans to move the work zone back to the northbound side on Tuesday, August 24, 2015.

On Tuesday, all northbound traffic will move to the right-hand or driving lane on the northbound bridge to allow brush clearing along the median area of the Kentucky approach causeway and allow deck cleaning and patching along the passing lane of the northbound bridge.

The work zone for northbound traffic is expected to be in place from about 8:30 a.m., CDT, until about 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday.  Work on the northbound bridge will likely continue into Wednesday.

Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

This work is scheduled on a weather permitting basis.  If all planned activity is not completed as scheduled work will automatically advance to the next working day.

Additionally, in coming weeks there may be brush clearing activity along the approach causeway in the median area on the Kentucky end of the bridges.  This work will not require lane restrictions.  However, motorists should be alert for support vehicles and equipment that may be stationed along the inside shoulder of US 41 in this area over the next few weeks.

KYTC will attempt to provide timely traffic updates as the bridge work schedule advances.

The US 41 Twin Bridges, also known as the Bi-State Viet Nam Gold Star Memorial Bridges, are located at US 41 mile point 19.649 about a mile south of the Kentucky-Indiana State Line.  They carry approximately 37,000 vehicles per day across the Ohio River between Henderson, KY, and Evansville, IN.
