Legion Park's about to go to the dogs!  Literally.  Owensboro's brand new (and first) dog park is set to officially open later today.  Terri Spencer, a local professional dog trainer, is offering some helpful tips to dog owners about dog park etiquette and pet safety.

Terri Spencer is a professional dog trainer at Paws Town, LLC here in Owensboro.

The official ribbon cutting for the Castlen Dog Park is set for 3pm on Tuesday, August 20th.  At that time, the park will officially open.  The Castlen Dog Park is located at Legion Park in the heart of Owensboro.  It's approximately a 1.6 acre fenced off-leash park for dog owners and their dogs.

This project has been discussed and planned for years.  It was spearheaded by local real estate agent L. Steve Castlen, who worked with local residents and city officials on the creation of the park.  A variety of local businesses and groups donated to the project: Audubon Animal Hospital, Towne Square Animal Hospital, Julie Crowe, Purdom Family & Macy, TD’s Tuff Decisions, Valor Oil and L. Steve Castlen Realtors.
