Owensboro filmmaker Keenan Powell has completed a documentary ABOUT Owensboro called Owensboro: Portrait from Middle America.

The documentary's DVD is scheduled to be released on August 11th. In conjunction with that release, two screenings of that film have been scheduled for Friday, August 9th and Saturday, August 10th at 7PM at the Trinity Theatre (Theatre Workshop of Owensboro).

In the attached clip, Powell acknowledges some of the film's flaws which, I think, indicate the experimental nature of this endeavor. Nonetheless, the content--including information about the last public hanging in the United States--is interesting and the early footage of Owensboro is very cool. If you want to bypass the buffalo segment, just go to the :45 mark.

Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer columnist Keith Lawrence provides narration.
