I thought bubonic plague was over and done with. But, no. There is a man in Oregon who had it. And, he got it from his cat! Don't read it unless you have a strong constitution. This happened in 2012 but Paul Gaylord is just now coming out with the tale. (No Pun intended).

Apparently Paul Gaylord's pet cat Charlie ate a flea-infested rat or mouse that was infected with the disease. Then, Charlie bit Paul and shortly thereafter died. It wasn't long before Paul started to have symptoms that was indeed bubonic plague.
