Mark Stoops Named New UK Head Football Coach [VIDEO]

After a 2-10 season, with none of those wins coming in SEC play, it came as little surprise when Joker Phillips was shown the door.

Today, the hopes of the University of Kentucky football program were pinned onto former Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops, who was introduced as UK’s new head coach.

Football is a gene in the Stoops family. Brother Mike is the former head football coach at the University of Arizona and, of course, Bob is the head coach at Oklahoma.

After a 10-2 Florida State season, Coach Stoops will bring his defensive schemes to Lexington.

Florida, Texas, Ohio State, and others have success in both football and basketball. No reason Kentucky can’t either.
