Last week, I wrote a post about some of the neat things that can readily identify Owensboro. Unfortunately, a running joke throughout the community and surrounding communities suggests that I could have just as easily included meth labs in that post. Meth labs, and the insidious frequency of their development, are a terribly detrimental aspect of this or any community.

It seems not a week goes by that I don't read a story in the paper or see one on the local news about another meth lab bust. As I've been writing this story I've been Googling meth pictures--you know, those horrible before and after photos? I'm tempted to link you to them, but they're so disturbing and nauseating, I don't think I can. But I bet you've seen them. They illustrate the decaying effects on a body of meth usage. Why would anyone do that do to themselves? The Owensboro Police Department plan to address this growing problem tonight at Lewis Lane Baptist Church. It's a pretty sad state of affairs that they have their hands full with this issue in this city. Hopefully, the more people know about meth, the closer we can come to eradicating its presence.
