Every country music fans knows there’s one thing Miranda Lambert can’t resist: Dogs in need. Their size and breed doesn’t matter — she’s taken in anything from bloodhounds to puppies in ditches — and now, she’s brought home another one, this time at the request of a 6-year-old fan.
In a sweet request via YouTube, Riley Weinberger, a volunteer for Big Dog Ranch Rescue based in Wellington, Fla., sent a plea for help to Lambert. In early August, the little girl created a video about the rescued animals she cares for as a volunteer and set it to the singer’s hit ‘The House That Built Me.’
Riley asked for Lambert to tour the facility during her visit to West Palm Beach, where she was schedule to perform at Cruzan Amphitheatre. “Please Miranda, we could save more dogs lives,” the little girl pleaded.
We don’t know if anyone could resist a plea from a girl with such a big heart, and the country star showed up at the Big Dog Ranch Rescue to not only tour the facility, but also adopt a puppy! She met Riley and her family and took him a tiny yellow pup, naming him Bellamy (in honor of the Bellamy brothers).
“Miranda was wonderful and very kind,” Eric Weinberger, Riley’s father, told WPTV. In addition to adopting the puppy, who was rescued from Miami-Dade Animal Shelter, the singer donated money to Big Dog Ranch.
Lambert shared the news of her visit via Twitter, writing, “Visited Big Dog Ranch Rescue today in West Palm Beach. Amazing place & great people helping so many dogs in need!”
Tourmate Dierks Bentley spilled the beans about Lambert’s new fur baby, telling his followers, “Guess who adopted another dog!!!! hint: he is headed to Oklahoma…” along with an adorable picture of the tiny puppy.
Although Lambert has plenty going on with her new store opening up and five nominations for the upcoming CMA Awards, there’s always room in her heart and life for more four-legged friends. Congrats to the singer on the newest addition to the Lambert-Shelton family!
