Lordy, lordy, and all that jazz. Yes, I'm now 40. Did I just write that? I'll rephrase, I'm 40 years young. In the hours leading up to October 13th this year, things started out a little shaky.

First, Monday night, I managed to lock myself out of my apartment for the third time this year. Here's a helpful tip, don't lock the door to erase the step of locking the door WITH YOUR KEYS, until you have them in hand. I also locked myself out on April Fool's Day, so every six months, I guess I need to wear my keys around my neck or my wrist.

For my birthday, my sister, brother-in-law, and my niece Zoey took me out to lunch and I got a bonus cupcake. I would show you what my real cake looked like, which leads to another unfortunate event. My sister and brother-in-law both broke down and got iPhones over the weekend, and my brother-in-law set the Louisville fight song as his ringtone. He's not always the most technically savvy, but he did it. So I didn't want to be left out, only I wanted WKU's fight song "Stand Up and Cheer" as my ringtone, however, I don't know if it has something to do with the new iOS update, but the ringtone I purchased didn't go to my phone. After lunch, I had Bobby mess with the phone to see if he could work another miracle, alas, it didn't happen. Oh well, but I wasn't going to be denied.

I went home and connected my phone to my laptop and I opened iTunes, but I got a pop up asking me if I would like to "restore my phone". Here's tip number two, DON'T RESTORE YOUR PHONE, unless you have backed it up, which mine had, but every single photo I had taken in the last year vanished in a matter of minutes. I think I panicked more than when the door locked behind me. Thus, I spent an hour Tuesday afternoon talking to Apple, they were great, and restoring a little over 100 photos I thought were lost. Unfortunately, any pictures I snapped in the last three weeks could not be recovered. I had snapped a great selfie of me and Zoey, but instead, here's a picture I took when my phone returned to normal.
