After my run yesterday, I was stretching and noticed my shoes had torn. Yep, I'd actually worn out my running shoes! Wow, I never thought that I would do that...ever!

Then, I got to thinking and realized that it's been almost a year since I took up running. I still shutter to call myself a "runner", but I'm getting closer. And, oddly enough, I really enjoy it!

My big mouth has gotten me into alot of trouble, but this time it actually involved physical activity. I accepted a challenge LIVE on the radio to run a 5K. There were a few problems with that; I wasn't a runner, I hadn't been training and the race was three weeks away! Ha! But, I said I was going to do it and I did!

From that race on, I started to enjoy running. It has become a part of my routine. And, to be honest, it's a stress reliever and confidence booster for me. Except, of course when I'm trying to catch my breath and feel like I'm gonna pass out! ;)

But, it made me realize something, we really can do anything we want to. Seriously!! I went from hardly being able to run a mile to running a half marathon, 13.1 of those crazy miles, in three and a half months! Looking back, I was crazy to try that short of a training schedule, but I did it!

So, I guess it's time for a new pair of shoes. Even thou I'm kinda sad to see these go away, they've carried me along alot of miles on alot of pavement.

Maybe after 236.8 miles ran, 35 hours of time, 22,000 calories burned and several new running friendships made, it's time to consider myself a "runner". After all... I do have the shoes and the cute outfits to go along with it!
