After two unsuccessful appeals of his indefinite suspension, NASCAR has reinstated driver Kurt Busch, and he will be back to full-time racing this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.

Not only will Busch be racing again, he will be eligible for the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Stewart-Haas Racing executive vice president issued a statement welcoming back the 2004 champ back to the team. Busch was indefinitely suspended two days before the Daytona 500 after a Delaware family court determined he committed an act of domestic violence against ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll. However, the Delaware attorney general's office announced last week they were not pressing criminal charges, citing inability to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

NASCAR waived the requirement that all drivers must participate in every race to be eligible for the Chase. Although Busch will be required to meet all other requirements, he must finish in the top 30 in the standings to qualify for the Chase with a win in the 23 remaining races. Busch will remain on NASCAR probation and he will continue to comply with all judicial requirements as a result of his off-track behavior including continuing a treatment program.
