Taking hot water for granted is a pretty easy thing to do when all you have to do is turn a knob, and there it is.  When a hot water heater stops working, and you realize your water won't get warm at 4:30 in the morning, it makes for a wonderful day.

Some of you heard that Bronson, the cat, got out over the weekend and he was out all night Saturday, and all day Sunday.  He finally came back, and I got to enjoy about 3 hours of my weekend.  Cat's in the house, he's safe, the hot water still works as far as I know (not something you think about), and I'm going to bed.

It was A-grade sleep, too.  I slept like a rock, and it was incredible.  I've trained myself to be a morning person over the course of the last 2 years, and I'm an expert at it now.  But when something goes wrong with a water heater, it turns you into a not-so-happy person.  This isn't the first time it's gone out.  All it takes is a couple minutes of getting down on the floor in the corner of a really tight area in my kitchen at 4:30 a.m., and igniting the fire underneath of a big cylinder tank.  It's a lot of fun.

Of course it takes a while to heat the water that is in the tank and I didn't get a Monday morning shower.  It made for a pleasant day....

I'm also glad I didn't end up like this unfortunate person that modeled for this awful diagram.

Or this other guy who is getting his hand burned off by the red molten hot death juice.
