Earthquakes aren't just for coastlines anymore. Actually, they never have been JUST for coastlines. Over the weekend, Oklahoma felt the third most powerful quake in its history. It registered 5.1 on the Richter scale.

And that one was just 1/140th of the quakes of the plus-3.0 variety that the Sooner State has felt this year...AND IT'S ONLY MID-FEBRUARY!

Now 5.1 isn't close to being devastating, you know, like the ones that California has experienced--most notably 1906, 1989, and 1994.

But it should make folks who live on known fault lines think a little.

One such fault line is our very own New Madrid Fault down in extreme southwestern Kentucky and Missouri.

We had one a few years ago that occurred around 5AM or a little thereafter. I never felt it. I was sound asleep.

And I remember one from when I was a kid, like when I was 7 or 8, because I was outside playing and the ground moved a little and it was weird.

Well, now there's an app called MyShake that alerts the user to an oncoming earthquake. We used to have to watch for animals to start freaking out. Now we can just look at our iPhones or Androids.

Here's how it works:
