Back in February,  Antiques Roadshow, one of the most enjoyable pastimes a man like me can enjoy, mentioned an Owensboro man by the name of John Thompson! And, tonight, PBS's new series, "History Detectives",  has the results of a search they conducted for the man who owned these pistols.

Sometime last summer in Pittsburgh, PA. a woman brought in a set of Derringer pistols and accoutrements that attend them.

The analyst read two engraved signs on the guns. One was sold by a firm in Louisville, KY, and the other bore its owner's name: John Thompson of Owensboro, KY.

The guns are valued at $30,000 and would be worth even more if they could find Mr. Thompson.

Oh, did I mention -- John Thompson is long gone? The guns were from the Civil War era.

If you can't watch tonight, starting Wednesday you can view it here.
