The Tobacco Control Coalition for the Green River District wants to remind everyone that November 15th is the Great American Smoke Out. This is a great time to beat the addiction to tobacco and start a new, healthy life. If you are planning on quitting smoking, they offer some tips:

- Pick a date within the next month and mark it on your calendar

- Tell friends and family about your quit day

- Stock up on oral substitutions (sugarless gum, carrot sticks or hard candy)

- Research the type of medication you would like to use. There are tools to help you quit, including nicotine patches, gum and lozenges
