Indiana Conservation officers are investigating a boating accident that happened at the Newburgh Dam involving two Owensboro men. This weekend's storms brought heavy rains and unpredictable currents on the Ohio River. The two were out fishing which the Newburgh Fire Department says, "Wasn't a good idea.especially near rough waters up by the Lock and Dam."

Sunday afternoon around 2:30 PM, the pair's boat was pulled into the Newburgh dam by water current when the motor would not start. One man was able to find a life jacket and pull himself to onto the ledge of the dam and the other is still missing.

Sonar has picked up a boat that is a bout 86 feet under water near the dam but it's unclear if this was the fishermen's boat. The search is still underway and is being hindered by the strong current from storms. No names have been released yet but we'll keep you updated as we find out new information. We are hoping and praying for a safe recovery.
