OPD Issues Update On January 20th Fatality

Fatality update via the Owensboro Police Department:

On Monday, January 20th, 2014, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Owensboro Police Department responded to an accident with injuries call on Highway 60 East in front of the OMU Elmer Smith station.

The single vehicle accident involved a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck operated by 53 year-old Malcolm J. Crunk. Preliminary investigation revealed that Crunk was traveling east bound on Hwy 60 when his vehicle ran off of the overpass and continued over the railing. The vehicle came to rest adjacent to the OMU access road below Hwy 60. Crunk was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of his injuries.

The cause of this accident is under investigation by the Owensboro Police Department.
