The Owensboro Police Department is participating in a national campaign targeting drunk drivers. Per the OPD, they will be out in force as part of the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administrations annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign on drunk driving.

The campaign runs from mid- August and will conclude on September 1st, 2014.
Locally, the drunken driving crackdown will include high-visibility enforcement, the use of
checkpoints, and will be supported by national paid advertising, creating a comprehensive
campaign to curb drunk driving in August and through the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Patrol officers will be aggressively looking for drunk drivers during this period.

Far too many people across the nation get behind the wheel after consuming too much alcohol.

The latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that in 2012, one person was killed every 51 minutes in an alcohol-impaired driving crash.

Join the Owensboro Police Department in our effort to keep the community safe this holiday!
