The Owensboro Police Department has released details on the shooting that occurred Friday morning.

From OPD:

At approximately 9:40am, the Owensboro Police Department responded to a the 600 block of E. 23rd Street in reference to a welfare check. The initial caller advised an adult male was sitting in the roadway.

The investigation revealed that the male subject was the victim of a shooting that occurred in the 500 block of E. 24th Street just prior to him being observed in the roadway. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for treatment of a gun shot to the upper torso. Detectives and evidence collection officers are continuing the investigation to determine what led to the incident and who is responsible. Initial reports have officers searching for two unidentified black males who reportedly left the scene in a blue Honda passenger car. The victim's name is not being released at this time.
