Technology has been credited for solving many crimes. Video footage is a big part of that success. Our Owensboro Police Department is introducing a great new partnership with you, the community, in efforts to help reduce crime and solve pending investigations.

Here's more information via the OPD:

"The Owensboro Police Department is glad to announce its launch of “Eye on Owensboro” campaign. This is a new online initiative will allow residents and businesses to register their security cameras with the Owensboro Police Department.

This is an opportunity for our business owners and residents to become a part of our neighborhood’s crime prevention efforts. Our community’s security cameras help to deter crime and they can also assist in solving a crime after it has happened. The availability for our police officers to know where surveillance cameras are located will benefit our entire community and will enhance “Excellent Outcomes through Community Partnerships.”

Registration is simple and only takes a few minutes. The form can be accessed at the Owensboro Police Department official website, www.owensboro.org/police/ or by retrieving a registration form at the Front Desk of the Owensboro Police Department. You will provide basic information and tell the department where your cameras are generally located. There is no cost associated with registration and your information is confidential. Once you have completed your registration, a member of the Owensboro Police Department will follow up with you to verify your information. You will then receive an Owensboro Police Department “Excellent Outcomes through Community Partnerships” window decal, which you can proudly display on any window of your home or business. You will only be contacted by the Owensboro Police Department in the future if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of your security camera(s)."
