Breaking news this morning.  Last night, the Owensboro Police Department's Hazardous Devices Unit was called to Ohio County, where a suspect pipe bomb was reported.

According to authorities, Beaver Dam Police called the Owensboro Police Department for backup and assistance at 6:37pm, Wednesday evening.  Members of OPD's Hazardous Devices Unit responded in reference to the report of a suspected pipe bomb in Oldham Park.  Bomb technicians immediately consulted with officers on site.  The device was deemed a hazard and protective perimeter was set up around the suspicious object.  OPD managed to disrupt the device successfully.

No further hazards were found in the park, which was eventually declared safe.  The investigation is ongoing and detectives are trying to locate the source of the suspicious object.
