Owensboro Convention Center to Open This Weekend [Schedule of Events]

The long anticipated Owensboro Convention Center is slated to open this weekend. Tonight, CMA award-winning artist Sara Evans will perform after a dinner gala. The grand opening doesn't stop there - from music performances to a huge big game party, the Owensboro Convention Center will host free entertainment all weekend.

• Doors Open at 6:00 p.m.
• Dinner Gala Starts at 7:30 p.m.
• Sara Evans Performance Starts at 9:00 p.m.

An evening filled with exciting entertainment and delicious cuisine. Highlights of the Gala include performances by the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra Second Street Big Band, the Jimmy Church Band, jazz and bluegrass performances, Aaron Kizer and feature entertainment by CMA Award Winning Country Artist Sara Evans. • Open to the General Public from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
• Ribbon Cutting at 10:00 a.m.
• Open House Tours from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Free Public Concert
             Marty Brown - performance starts at 7:00 p.m.
             The Willis Clan - performance starts at 8:00 p.m.

The public is invited to enjoy a full-day of events and tours of the facility. The official Ribbon Cutting will take place at 10:00 a.m. in conjunction with the Hampton Inn and Suites. Doors will open to the Convention Center immediately following the ribbon cutting. A variety of different activities and entertainment for the whole family have been planned throughout the day, concluding with a performance by Great American Country TV stars The Willis Clan (thewillisclan.com).

• Open to the General Public from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
• Lunch Starts at 12:30 p.m.
• Interfaith Blessing Starts at 1:30 p.m.
• Big Football Game Viewing Party from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Buffet lunch will be available to those that purchase tickets in advance. An interfaith blessing of the building and service will take place following the lunch. The public is also invited to watch the big game on large screens around the facility and cash concessions will be available.
