Owensboro High School is adding a new sport to its roster of girls' sports.  The school has announced that girls lacrosse is being offered this season and the first game is just a few days away.

According to Owensboro High School Athletic Director Todd Harper, “Lacrosse is the fastest-growing sport in America."  OHS has already seen some relative success with its boys' lacrosse program and now the school is adding a girls' team to the mix as well.

Owensboro High School will become the 33rd school program here in Kentucky and the only school west of Bowling Green that is currently offering the sport. Because of the lack of Kentucky teams available for competition, the OHS girls lacrosse team will be playing many teams from the Evansville area.  The first game of the season is scheduled for May 7th when the Lady Devils battle Boonville.

The team will be coached by Colonel Carl Fehrenbacher, who will serve as the head coach.  He will be assisted by Matt Madej, who is the current head coach of the boys' team.
