Analysts at wallethub.com have crunched some numbers and, using factors like affordability, economic health, education & health, and quality of life, have come up with the best and worst small U.S. cities in which to live.

There are a total of 1,268 cities in the survey.

Poor Bell, California. It comes in at a robust #1,268. By the same token, the best small city is in, of all places, New Jersey.

Zeroing in on Kentucky, I found there are 14 cities from the Bluegrass State on the list, the highest-ranked of which is Independence, which is up around Cincinnati. It comes in at #82.

The WORST small Kentucky city in which to live, according to this survey, is Hopkinsville.

Owensboro's national rank of 412 puts it 7th on the list of small Kentucky cities, but in top one-third nationwide...although, hopefully, we'll move up in surveys to come.
