While we haven’t seen an abundance of ice this year (thankfully in my opinion), it is still that time of year that makes you want to be on the ice. Unfortunately when I was growing up, the area I lived in didn’t have any where to ice skate, so I had to learn when we would go on vacation or trips. Owensboro has a great facility to skate and a program they are getting ready to offer will give you the opportunity to learn to skate!

The City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center is gearing up for their Learn-to-Skate program. The program is part of their Skating School. Registration is now being accepted for the program, which will begin on February 19th. Classes will be held once a week on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at various times.

The dates of the Tuesday classes are February 19th through March 26th. Wednesday classes run from February 20th through March 27th. Classes are $35 per person and include one hour of ice time per week (30 minutes for instruction and 30 minutes of practice time), skate rental, and a one-month free membership to the Cheapskate Club. Registration deadline is February 15th.

You can register through the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department by calling 687-8700, or at the Edge Ice Center in person or by calling 687-8720.
